It's Here

Reality.  Yesterday I was so concentrated on finding a job because it's been a while since I've taken this much time off of work.  While I really would like to get back to work so that I can comfortably afford a trip to visit Mr. B in June, I am glad that I've had this time.  Last year it took me a month for the reality of everything to sink in.  I think the delay was due to moving and working full-time right after he left.  But this time, I left just a couple of days before he did, enough time to get settled into the new place and get Little Monster settled into the new place.  And now that I've had a few days of "down time" it's hitting me.

And just as I was writing all of that Mr. B's cousin called me upstairs to chat and helped distract me from my loneliness.  And that is why I chose to move here.

10 Days

I have been at my new home for ten days now.  Little Monster arrived eight days ago and so far he seems to be enjoying our new surroundings.

Little Monster started Kindergarten yesterday, the school is only a few blocks from our house and he's only going half day.  He'll attend this same school in the fall when he starts 1st grade.

It's been less than two weeks since I worked last (tomorrow) and I'm getting restless. Yesterday I attended an "interview" which turned out to be a multilevel marketing scheme (selling Rainbows, and while I like Rainbows, I just don't want to sell them!  I did consider going to training and getting paid the $16+/hour offered for training, and then working a couple of days just to bring a rainbow here to clean the carpets.  Is that evil of me?  I wish I'd have done it).

My GPS has been fantastic!  After a few days I feel comfortable going some places without consulting "Dr Nightmare" (the voice I downloaded).

Here's a view of Pikes Peak from the 20th:

We can see Pikes Peak from our back porch.  The mountains are only to the west, everything else is so flat!  It's easy to see what kind of day it will be by looking at the mountains.

I have arrived.

Around 3 pm yesterday I made it to my new home.  I've already unpacked the car and have everything I brought with me unpacked and set up.  There's not a lot that you can fit in a tiny little car, but I did fit a lot more than I imagined possible.

I have a video posted on Facebook of the new place for anyone that wants to see (but you do have to be on my friend's list).  It's pretty bare, but it's nice for Little Monster & me.

From just about anywhere in town we can see Pikes Peak, and as soon as I'm settled I promise to post pictures!  My sister is bringing Little Monster in tomorrow morning and we're planning a trip to the Garden of the Gods which promises to be a lot of fun.

Welcome to Colorful Colorado

Yep

I'm on my way.  Half way to my new home.
I just uploaded some pictures to my flickr account from my first trip to Pyramid Lake.
That place is so eerie.

During my drive today I listened to most of the book "The Painted Veil." I'm approx. 45 minutes from the ending.  I like the movie better.  At least they redeemed Kitty's character in the movie, in the book (at least at this point) she has no redeeming qualities.  To think she felt relieved when her husband died of cholera!

But now, I am a little hungry.  So goodnight.  I'll write more about my trip later.

Short & Sweet

A quote for today:

"Love is everything it's cracked up to be…It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for." (Erica Jong)

Love is complicated, but you already knew that.  Love motivates you to say things you wouldn't otherwise say and do things you wouldn't otherwise do.

I just found this song by Theory of a Deadman called "Wait For Me."  I picture myself listening to this repeatedly over the next 20 months.  A lot of that reminds me of the letters I received last year.  All basically along those lines.
